Best Books You’ve Read In 2017 So Far (break it down however you want — by genre, strictly 2017 releases, whatever!)

I’ve only read 27 books this year (so far) (sadly), so this will be a lame list… sorry! Life has a way of getting in the way of reading.

10 Best Books Read This Year

1) The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

The Picture of Dorian Gray
The first book I read this year and obviously one of my favorites. 4/5 stars

2) Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen

Northanger Abbey
Read this for a class in college and loved it — the main character is so relatable! 4/5 stars

3) The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank

The Diary of a Young Girl
5/5 stars — incredible

4) A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams

My girlfriend recommended this and I was pleasantly surprised. 5/5 stars

5) Hollow City by Ransom Riggs

Hollow City (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children, #2)
Even better than the first book. 4.5/5 stars

6) Little Red Riding Hood by The Brothers Grimm, Illustrated by Daniel Egneus

Little Red Riding Hood
Classic tale but incredible illustrations! Reads like a fashion magazine. 5/5 stars

7) Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

Before I Fall
5/5 stars

8) Love That Dog by Sharon Creech

Love That Dog (Jack, #1)
Children’s poetry book that is as touching a it is unique. 5/5 stars

9) Treasure Island by Robert Lois Stevenson

Read this at the urgent request of my girlfriend. 3/5 stars

10) The Republic by Plato

The Republic
Required by Philosophy minors. Should be read by all. 4/5 stars

  1. I haven’t had a chance to pick up Hollow City yet, but if it’s even better than the first book was, it must be a good read. I read Before I Fall ages ago – it’s so cool to see it on a recent list, and with 5 stars, no less! ❤ Great selection for this week! 🙂
